Town Hall Meeting

October 14, 2010
Our kindergarten, first, and second grade students did an OUTSTANDING job singing for their performance at the Town Hall Meeting on Tuesday, October 5th.  I am so proud of Spring Valley's youngest for memorizing their songs and learning the movements so quickly.  Parents, I think you will agree that they looked great in their black and gold attire!  I want to thank all of the ENCORE teachers and the classroom teachers for jumping in and helping to put this program together.

NC Symphony

May 5, 2009
Today, the fourth grade students attended the NC Symphony's Education Program.  It was a great performance which included selections we have been learning about during music class.  The students enjoyed listening to the different instrument families showcase their individual talents.  The NC Symphony's conductor introduced each piece and spoke with the children about the importance of classical music, and how enjoyable it can be!  I am grateful that our students have the opportunity to attend such events.

Excellent Opportunity

May 5, 2009

Ten of our fifth grade students attended the Honors Chorus Performance on Friday, May 1st.  It was an amazing opportunity for students and teachers!  We were able to meet and work with composer and music editor Andy Beck.  He has an abundance of energy and really got the students moving and singing beautifully!  After many hours of work and practice, we were finally able to perform for teachers, parents and principals.  Our very own Mrs. Bittle and Mrs. Travis were in attendance.  The program was very exciting with high-energy choreography!  The fifth grade students were extremely well behaved and the parents loved the show!  Mr. Beck was kind enough to autography our favorite song, "Firefly".  I couldn't have asked for a better day.  Thank you to everyone who made it possible!
